Becoming a Light on a Hill:

A celebration year - 2009/10 marked the 125th anniversary of St Mark's where we shared in various events with the rest of our village community, culminating in a special service with the Bishop of Sheffield.

The interior of our church building was renewed and renovated in 2007/8, which was the biggest change our church has had since it was built, allowing us to extend our facilities for people of all abilities and to make the building available for many more events. Everything has been designed to make the space flexible for all occasions. The inside of the traditional Victorian Grenoside Stone building offers warm, carpeted, comfortable surroundings.

We have different worship styles. We hope that each is a lively expression of Christian worship, carried out in a relaxed way. Our Sunday morning service (at 10 a.m.) has a mix of formal and informal depending on the Sunday and whether communion is being shared. At 8.30 a.m. on the 3rd Sunday in each month, in addition to the 10 a.m. service, we have a formal Book of Common Prayer service which usually includes communion.

Our Sunday afternoon service at 3 p.m. (the 'T' service) is very informal, set up in cafe style. with a greater emphasis on contemporary worship, preaching in different styles, including inter-active ones. At each of our services we hope that visitors all feel welcome. We place some emphasis on our hospitality, refreshmnets being available at all our services, almost invariably with biscuits and sometimes cakes.

Our vicar is Revd Martin Kilner, and he and his wife Ann live here in the village.

Everyone is welcome to any of our services - we specialise in providing good quality hospitality and a warm welcome.

In addition to the Book of Common Prayer service mentioned above, our services are:
